This team leads our only club fundraiser, the selling of Christmas Trees. Out club has been selling Christmas Trees at a lot at the corner of Virginia and Ann Streets for over 50 years.

They are responsible for ordering trees, setting up the tree lot, staffing the lot, selling trees, and cleaning up the lot following the Christmas season.

This committee is chaired by Arthur Mack, 2nd Vice-President of the Club.

The fellowship committee makes certain that members and guests are greeted and made to feel welcome at all club activities. This committee puts the fun in our club by developing interesting, often fun and light-hearted activities for our meetings .

The fellowship commmittee calls members to inform and remind them of important club events and functions.

The program committee is responsible for obtaining speakers for our weekly meetings. The Program Committee also promotes the spirit of Optimism at our club meetings.

The Publicity Committee is in charge of publicity for the club. This includes publicity for the Christmas Tree lot and for club activities and service projects. This committee also publishes the Club Newsletter.

The service to youth committee plans and coordinates our activities and outings with the Optiist Boys and Girls Committee. This committee is also is responsible for our sports awards and all other youth services that are not under a specific committee or team.

Gene Hines chairs the Service to Youth Committee

This committee solicits applications from high school seniors for the three college scholarship that our club sponsors. The committee then examines the academic and service records of students who apply for our scholarships and selects deserving recipients for the scholarships. One scholarship is given to a male, one to a female, and one to a member of the Boys and Girls Club of either gender.

Pete Dranka chairs the Scholarship Committee.

This committee encourages and seeks applicants to submit essays on the Optimist International essay topic of the year. The committee also finds readers to select the best essays written.

Mike McDuffie chairs the Essay Committee.

This committee encourages middle and high school students to enter the annual Optimist Oratorical Contest. The Committee lines up judges who select the winners of this event who are eligible to compete at the District level for scholarships.

Tom James chairs this committee.

The Membership Committee helps our club grow. They encourage members to invite guests to meetings and hold NOW meetings to inform potential members about our club. They also develop and implement membership promotional ideas.

The Co-Chairs of the Membership Committee are Leon Timothy and Buzz Jordan.

This committee serves as a liason and link between the Mobile Optimist Club and our Junior Optimist Club at UMS-Wright Prepratory School. They also work on building and adding new Junior Optimist Clubs.

This Committee is chaired by Buzz Jordan.

This committee leads the club in organizing and establishing new Optimist Clubs.

It is chaired by Jeff Glidewell. Jeff also serves as the Lieutenant Governor of Zone 5.

This committee keeps the club book that documents all of our service projects and net growth of club members. This committee seeks to make certain that our club is alive, well, and growing and will be recognized as an Honor Club.
